FF-ICE: Changes Coming to Flight Plan Filing in Europe from 2026
Starting January 01, 2026, flight plan filing in Europe will experience the first significant change since the implementation of the FPL2012 format. Branded as FF-ICE (Flight and Flow Information for a Collaborative Environment), EuroControl and the SESAR Deployment Manager have been the leading entity of this global ICAO initiative through Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/116 which mandates Airspace User’s and ANSP’s systems to support the exchange of FF-ICE/R1 filing services.
